May 2025 Luncheon
Members and guests were treated to two special activities at the May WON lunch held Thursday, May 21.
Sedi Samiei, Master Gardener from the University of Florida Extension kicked off the lunch by providing an outstanding presentation about how to grow and maintain a “Florida Friendly Landscape”. Did you know that 60% of water consumption goes to lawns and landscapes in our area? Or that the Florida population is expected to DOUBLE by 2060? All of these facts and more point to its Number 1 Principle – “Right Plant. Right Time.” Check out https://ffl.ifas.ufl.edu/ for more information.
Then there was the debut of the WONda’s Estate Sale filled with treasures donated by WON members. Baubles included household goods, Christmas items, paintings (including a numbered Robert Kincaid oil painting) and four Hitchcock chairs. WON members served as volunteer “Riveters” assisting with the sale. Monies made from the event which will be funneled back into the club for future activities. The event was presented by The Ways and Means Committee co chaired by Charlene Kingsnorth and Lee Ann Shobe and “Riverters” Carol Newton, Cathy Hohner, Bonnie Bartlett, Marie Larson and Cindy Arnold.

CRAFTY LADIES
The Crafty Ladies group is a vibrant collection of creative women who gather each moth to share their love of crafting and friendship. Each meeting features a new project - ranging from seasonal decor and fabric arts to painting and paper crafts - offering members a chance to learn, create, and inspire one another. Some previous projects have included decoupage oyster shells, Scandinavian fabric folded stars, decoupage pumpkins, mini hat favors with candy and chunky hand knitted blankets.
More than just a craft group the Crafty Ladies foster connection and community, where laughter, conversation, and creativity flow freely. Whether you're an experiences artist or a beginner eager to try something new, every gathering is a joyful opportunity to unwind, make memories, and celebrate handmade creativity. We meet on a flexible basis so look for monthly updates of projects in the newsletter or sign up and join our email list for information of the day, time and location for gatherings.
